Project Luton & Dunstable University Hospital, United Kingdom

272 parking bays

This highly anticipated multi-storey car park was commissioned by the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, in order to improve traffic flow in the surrounding area and provide convenient facilities for its staff. HUBER designed and built a mobility hub comprising of the four-level car park and an external bicycle hub providing amenities and bicycle storage for staff.

Situated on a busy road, the car park was designed to blend in with the surrounding residential area at its lower levels, whilst the façade’s colour scheme at higher level complements the main hospital building. Also, to provide a green environment, a variety of trees, shrubs and plants have been planted along the front elevation to the road and main access.

In order to maximise use of the space provided, the structure is split-level. All decks are accessible via 2 staircores, of which the main staircore has an 8-person lift.

The external cycle hub provides the facility for staff to store their bicycles, as well as shower and WC amenities and lockers.

All emergency and security systems, such as fire alarm and CCTV cameras, are linked to the hospital’s security room. The car park currently has control barriers and has been fitted with the infrastructure necessary for future use of ANPR when required.
